Here is a list of the parts I needed to perform the swap: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED BEFORE YOU START OR YOU ARE IN FOR A LONG WAITING PROCESS. The one precaution that I will give that has been given to me is this. So after probably 5 months or more of sitting, I finally have a good method to make a 99-04 O2J fit and work in the 93-98 MK3’s. I sorted through all of the stuff and then set it aside while I learned more about what I needed to do. So my parents were in Tulsa, OK and picked up the motor and transmission from the seller and brought it home to me. I quickly learned that I was not really prepared for what I was thinking. So I thought I would be able to swap everything in and have it work correctly. After searching on the internet (,, and Ebay) I was able to find a transmission and an AEG motor. I ended up parking the car for a few weeks while I contemplated what I was going to do. It all started when the 1996 2.0 Jetta’s automatic transmission took a complete dump like most other automatics. Well, I finally got all of the parts together and little by little, I have completed the MK4 O2J Transmission swap. ![]()
